8. Revascularisation strategy in ACS

Immediate or staged complete revascularisation during index admission for STEMI and multivessel disease

OPTION-STEMI
Objective
to determine whether immediate complete revascularisation is non-inferior to staged complete revascularisation during the index admission in patients with STEMI and multivessel disease
Study
multicentre, non-inferior, open-label, randomised controlled trial
Population
patients aged 19 years or older presenting with STEMI and multivessel coronary artery disease who underwent successful PCI for a culprit artery
Endpoints
composite of death from any cause, non-fatal myocardial infarction or any unplanned revascularisation at 1 year; individual components of the composite and other clinical events up to 1 year
Conclusion
In patients with STEMI and multivessel disease, immediate complete revascularisation was not found to be non-inferior to staged complete revascularisation during the index admission with respect to incidence of a composite of all-cause death, non-fatal myocardial infarction or unplanned revascularisation at 1 year.
