Left atrial appendage closure after ablation for atrial fibrillation

OPTION
Objective
to assess the clinical efficacy of left atrial appendage closure compared to oral anticoagulation in patients who had undergone ablation for atrial fibrillation (AF)
Study
international, multicentre, randomised study
Population
patients with AF with CHADS-VASc score 2 in men and 3 in women
Endpoints
1) non-procedure-related major bleeding or clinically relevant bleeding or 2) composite of death, stroke or systemic embolism at 36 months
Conclusion
