13. Percutaneous intervention for aortic valve stenosis

Self-expandable vs balloon-expandable valves for TAVI

SOLVE-TAVI 5 YEARS
Objective
to report the 5-year clinical outcomes of TAVI using SEV (Evolut R) or BEV (Sapien 3) valves and general anaesthesia (GA) or conscious sedation (CS)
Study
randomised multicentre 2×2 factorial trial
Population
intermediate- to high-risk patients with severe symptomatic aortic stenosis
Endpoints
TAVI endpoint: composite all-cause death, stroke, moderate/severe leak and permanent pacemaker implantation at 5 years; anaesthesia endpoint: all-cause death, stroke, MI and kidney injury at 5 years
Conclusion
TAVI using either SEV or BEV as well as CS or GA was associated with similar 5-year clinical outcomes.
