Objective
to evaluate the 5-year clinical outcome of balloon-expandable versus self expanding valves for the percutaneous treatment of severe aortic valve stenosis
Study
investigator-initiated multicentre randomised trial
Population
patients with severe symptomatic aortic stenosis at high surgical risk
Endpoints
clinical outcomes at 5 years

Conclusion
there was no significant difference of clinical outcomes at 5-year follow-up between percutaneous treatment of aortic stenosis with balloon-expandable valve or self-expanding valves. However the statistical power of this study is low.
